Tour Itinerary

• Day 1 :  Fly to Casablanca  -  Rabat

Arrive at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, where you will meet your Atlas Trekking Morocco tour leader and begin your Morocco adventure. Depending on your arrival time, there may be an opportunity to visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, one of Morocco's most iconic landmarks.

Afterward, travel along the Atlantic coast to Rabat, Morocco's capital city. Upon arrival, check into your hotel or Riad and enjoy a relaxing evening.

• Day 2 :  Morning sightseeing in Rabat  -  Fes     

After breakfast, explore the historic highlights of Rabat with a local guide. Visit the Hassan Tower and Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then continue to the atmospheric Kasbah of the Udayas, a historic fortified quarter overlooking the Bou Regreg River and Atlantic Ocean.

After the morning sightseeing, continue toward Fes, Morocco's cultural and spiritual capital. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel inland and arrive in Fes later in the day.

• Day 3 :   Exploring Fes

Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, one of Morocco's most historic cities.

With a local guide, discover the famous Fes el-Bali Medina, with its narrow lanes, traditional souks, artisan workshops and historic architecture. Visit important landmarks and explore the city's traditional craft districts, where generations of artisans have preserved skills in leatherwork, metalwork, weaving and other crafts.

You will also have the opportunity to see the Royal Palace area and enjoy panoramic views over the old city before continuing your exploration of the Medina.

Day 4 :   Fes  -  Volubilis  -  Meknes       

Leave Fes and travel toward Volubilis, Morocco's best-preserved Roman archaeological site. Explore the remains of this ancient Roman city and admire its impressive mosaics, columns and ruins.

Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco's four historic imperial cities. With a local guide, explore some of the city's major landmarks, including the historic granaries associated with Sultan Moulay Ismail and the old imperial quarters.

• Day 5 :   Meknes   -  Middle Atlas Mountains -  Merzouga

Today begins with a long but spectacular journey south toward the Sahara Desert.

Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane and the mountain landscapes around Azrou. Continue through traditional Amazigh villages and the scenic highlands before descending toward the Ziz Valley and Erfoud.

From Erfoud, continue toward Merzouga, located on the edge of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes.

In the late afternoon, begin your camel ride across the Sahara dunes. Watch the changing colors of the desert as the sun sets before reaching your desert camp.

Enjoy dinner and an evening under the desert sky.

• Day 6 : Merzouga - Todgha Gorges - Rose Valley - Skoura

Wake early to experience the desert around sunrise before returning by camel to the lodge area.

After breakfast, leave Merzouga and travel west toward the dramatic landscapes of southern Morocco. Continue through the Ziz and Todgha regions to reach the spectacular Todgha Gorges, where you will enjoy a short walk among the towering limestone cliffs.

Continue through the Rose Valley, passing the town of Kelaat M'Gouna, famous for its rose cultivation and traditional rose products.

The day's journey ends in Skoura, a beautiful oasis known for its palm groves and historic Kasbahs.

• Day 7 :  Skoura  - Ouarzazate  -  Ait Ben Haddou  -  Tichka pass  -  Imlil “High Atlas Mountains”

Leave Skoura and travel through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Ouarzazate.

Explore Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara and a major center for film production in Morocco. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, one of the country's most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Walk through the historic ksar and admire its earthen architecture before continuing across the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains.

The journey continues toward Imlil, a mountain village situated beneath Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

Driving time: Approximately 5 hours
Walking: Approximately 1 hour at Ait Ben Haddou
Meals: Breakfast and dinner
Accommodation: Mountain lodge

• Day 8 :  Guided Trek in the High Atlas Mountains  -  Marrakech

Today you will experience the High Atlas Mountains on a guided walk around the Imlil Valley.

Walk through traditional Amazigh villages, terraced fields and mountain landscapes while learning about local life and traditions from your guide. The walk offers an opportunity to experience a quieter side of Morocco away from the major cities and tourist centers.

A mule ride may also be possible depending on local arrangements and availability.

In the afternoon, leave the mountains and transfer to Marrakech, where you will check into your Riad or hotel.

• Day 9 :   Day to explore Marrakech

Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Marrakech, Morocco's famous Red City.

Explore the historic Marrakech Medina and its colorful souks, discovering the city's rich architectural and cultural heritage. Visit major landmarks such as the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs and the historic medina area.

Later, spend time around Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech's famous central square and one of the city's most atmospheric places.

The remainder of the day can be used to explore the souks, discover local crafts or simply enjoy the atmosphere of Marrakech at your own pace.

• Day 10 :  Departure from Marrakech or Casablanca
