8-Day Ait Bouguemez Happy Valley Trek
8-Day Ait Bouguemez and Mgoun Trek - Happy Valley and Mgoun Summit
The spectacular landscapes of Morocco’s Central High Atlas are revealed on this 8-day Ait Bouguemez happy valley trek and Mgoun Summit, combining the peaceful villages and traditional culture of the Ait Bouguemez Valley with the challenge of climbing Mount Mgoun (4,071m), Morocco’s second-highest mountain.
This trekking adventure is designed for hikers who want to experience a quieter and more remote side of the Moroccan High Atlas. Starting from Marrakech, the journey takes you through the dramatic landscapes around Ait Bouguemez, where green agricultural terraces, traditional Amazigh villages and high mountain valleys create a striking contrast with the rugged peaks surrounding them.
The trek gradually leads into the high mountains, crossing the Aghouri Pass at approximately 3,450m before reaching the spectacular Tarkeddit Plateau, one of the most remarkable high-altitude landscapes of the Mgoun massif. From Tarkadit, the route continues toward the summit of Mount Mgoun at 4,071m, with expansive views across the Central High Atlas.
After the summit, the route descends through remote mountain landscapes toward Oulilimt Valley and the Aflafal Springs before crossing Tizi n'Ait Imi Pass (2,905m) and returning to the Ait Bouguemez Valley.
The journey then ends with a scenic drive toward Marrakech, including a visit to Ouzoud Waterfalls, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural attractions.
This Mgoun Trek from Ait Bouguemez is a rewarding choice for active travelers looking for mountain scenery, Amazigh culture, remote valleys and a challenging but non-technical summit experience away from the busier Toubkal routes.
